1. Introduction

Welcome to Inzwi ("we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Inzwi is a research project focused on building Shona language AI datasets through community contributions.

2. Your Contributions

2.1 License Grant

By submitting translations, audio recordings, or other content ("Contributions") to Inzwi, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to:

• Use, copy, modify, and distribute your Contributions
• Create derivative works based on your Contributions
• Include your Contributions in datasets for AI training
• Sublicense your Contributions for research and commercial purposes

2.2 Your Rights

You retain ownership of your original Contributions. This license allows us to use your Contributions while you remain free to use them elsewhere.

2.3 Representations

You represent that:

• Your Contributions are original or you have rights to submit them
• Your Contributions do not infringe any third-party rights
• Your Contributions do not contain harmful, illegal, or offensive content

3. Dataset Usage

3.1 Open Research Data

The Inzwi dataset may be made available to researchers and developers under open-source licenses for non-commercial research purposes.

3.2 Commercial Use

We reserve the right to use the dataset and derived AI models for commercial purposes. This includes but is not limited to:

• Training proprietary AI models
• Developing commercial products and services
• Licensing the dataset or models to third parties

Contributors are not entitled to compensation for commercial use of the dataset.

4. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

5. Gamification & Points

Points, badges, and leaderboard rankings are primarily for engagement and recognition purposes. However, at our sole discretion, points may be used to determine eligibility for:

• Monetary awards or prizes (subject to available funding)
• In-kind rewards such as merchandise, certificates, or recognition
• Priority access to new features or programs
• Other benefits as we may introduce

Important: We make no guarantee of any monetary or in-kind awards. Any rewards program is contingent on available funding and will be announced separately if implemented. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or terminate any rewards program at any time without prior notice.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Submit false, misleading, or low-quality contributions
• Attempt to manipulate the points or validation system
• Harass or harm other users
• Use automated methods to submit contributions
• Violate any applicable laws or regulations

7. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the platform at any time, without notice, for any reason. Upon termination, the license you granted us to your Contributions shall survive.

8. Disclaimer

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR USEFULNESS OF ANY CONTENT ON THE PLATFORM.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM.

10. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
